What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a small titanium post that replaces the root of a missing tooth. Once placed in the jawbone, the implant bonds with the bone through a process called osseointegration, creating a strong foundation for a crown, bridge or denture.

Dental implants are now considered the gold standard for replacing missing teeth. They function just like natural teeth, allowing you to eat, speak and smile with confidence.

What does dental implant treatment involve?

  1. Dental Implants

    Consultation & treatment planning

At your first appointment, we’ll assess your oral health, take X-rays or scans, and discuss all your treatment options. You’ll receive a personalised treatment plan, including a breakdown of costs and timelines.

  2. Dental Implants

    Implant placement

The implant is placed into your jawbone during a minor surgical procedure under local anaesthetic, with sedation available if needed. If bone grafting is required, it may be done at the same time or beforehand.

  3. Dental Implants

    Healing & integration

Over a healing period lasting anywhere between six weeks and six months, the implant bonds with your bone. Temporary teeth or dentures can be provided so you never go without teeth. In some cases, same-day implants or immediate loading may be possible.

  4. Dental Implants

    Restoration

Once healing is complete, your final restoration – whether it’s a crown, bridge or denture, is custom-made by a dental technician and securely fitted.

  5. Dental Implants

    Ongoing care & maintenance

Good oral hygiene and regular dental visits are essential. Our team will guide you on how to care for your implants, and our hygienist can assist with long-term maintenance.

Single tooth implants

If you’re missing just one tooth, a dental implant can replace it without affecting the neighbouring teeth. Unlike a traditional bridge, no grinding or shaping of adjacent teeth is required. A titanium implant is placed into the jawbone, and once healed, a custom-made crown is attached – restoring both appearance and function. In many cases, a temporary crown can be placed on the same day for front teeth, so you don’t go without a smile.

Implants for multiple missing teeth

When two or more adjacent teeth are missing, a dental implant-supported bridge can be used. Instead of placing one implant for every tooth, two or more implants are placed to support a bridge that fills the gap. This approach offers a stable and long-lasting solution that looks and feels natural, without relying on removable partial dentures.

Same-day teeth / full arch implants

Looking to replace all your upper or lower teeth? With our teeth-in-a-day solution, you can walk out with a brand-new smile in just one visit. Using 4-6 implants strategically placed in the jaw, a fixed bridge is secured on the same day as surgery. This is ideal for patients seeking a fast, fixed alternative to dentures with immediate results. Our skilled implant surgeons use advanced techniques to ensure safety, precision and a predictable outcome.
