What is restorative dentistry?

Restorative dental treatments are aimed at repairing and replacing damaged or missing teeth to improve function, appearance and overall oral health.

Does restorative dentistry hurt?

Restorative dentistry shouldn’t hurt. We use local anaesthetic to minimise any discomfort and make sure you are feeling relaxed and comfortable before we begin. Many patients are worried about their restorative treatment being painful, but please rest assured this is often not the case. We can also use dental sedation, if necessary, to help you feel more at ease.

I am in pain - will restorative dentistry help?

Yes, if you have toothache or are in mouth pain, restorative dentistry can help. If the pain is from an infected tooth, we may be able to perform root canal treatment to remove the infection and restore your tooth to full function. The pain should subside shortly following treatment.

How long do dental restorations last?

The lifespan of dental restorations varies depending on the type of treatment, the materials used, and how well it is looked after. Dental implants have the potential to last a lifetime with proper care, and root canal treatment is also very long-lasting.
