What is composite bonding?

Composite bonding is a fast, effective, and non-invasive way to transform the appearance of one or more teeth, or even your whole smile. A tooth-coloured composite resin material is expertly applied directly to your teeth. The material is then sculpted and polished, allowing us to change the tooth’s shape and size without the need for invasive drilling that affects the healthy structure of your teeth.

Composite bonding is suitable for most patients and doesn’t require lengthy treatment timelines or healing periods. If you are looking for a fast smile makeover, need to repair chipped teeth, or wish to mask discolouration, teeth bonding is an excellent cosmetic option for achieving a stunning and confident new smile.

What does composite bonding treatment involve?

  1. Composite Bonding

    Consultation

We begin with a detailed consultation to understand exactly what you want to change or enhance about your smile. We make sure that composite bonding is the right treatment for you, explain the treatment process, and give you the chance to ask any questions. We can place a direct composite ‘mock-up’ to show you the potential results that can be achieved.

  2. Composite Bonding

    Preparation

To ensure a seamless result, we first colour-match the composite material precisely to your natural teeth, or select a lighter shade if you prefer a brighter look. We also take a ‘before’ picture of your smile so you can clearly see the incredible difference once the treatment is finished!

  3. Composite Bonding

    Bonding

At the start of the treatment, we gently dry the tooth and apply a mild acidic gel to create a slightly textured surface. This allows the composite material to bond strongly and effectively. We then apply the composite in layers, meticulously sculpting and shaping it to achieve the desired look, whether that’s correcting a chip, closing a gap, or adjusting the tooth shape.

  4. Composite Bonding

    Smile!

We use a specialised blue curing light to instantly harden the composite material into place, meaning no downtime is required. To finish, we professionally polish the treated teeth until they are shiny and smooth, immediately revealing your beautiful, new smile!
